The Sustainable City, Yas Island has been awarded the prestigious Estidama 5 Pearl designation for the architectural design of its residences.

Yas Island’s Sustainable City has been awarded the prestigious Estidama 5 Pearl designation for the architectural design of its residences. The rating, which was created through a partnership between SEE Holding and Aldar Properties, is evidence of the partners’ commitment to economic, social, and environmental sustainability. The highest rating under the Pearl Villa Rating System (PVRS) for green buildings is awarded by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council and indicates superiority in sustainable construction.

It is distinguished by highly developed energy-efficient building designs, water-saving techniques, the incorporation of green areas and pedestrian-friendly walkways, the use of environmentally friendly materials, and a commitment to improving the wellness of the local people and the environment.

The Sustainable City – Yas Island residences, which have earned a 5 Pearl rating, will be powered by solar energy generated by panels mounted on parking and residential buildings, allowing homeowners to reduce their energy costs by up to 50%.
Together with a central green spine that runs the length of the city and biodomes to encourage community gardening, it is planned to promote energy and water efficiency. Additionally, a network of shared battery-charged bicycles and buggies will enhance accessibility and walkability for everyone.
The project is currently under construction, and the first handovers are scheduled for the end of 2025.

The group chief financial and sustainability officer of Aldar, Faisal Falaknaz, stated: “Sustainable City – Yas Island is a benchmark for building resilient and sustainable communities in the UAE and is a testament to both partners’ commitment to sustainable development.”

“The development offers a framework for the future of sustainable cities and supports the growing need and expectation established by our consumers for environmentally friendly and socially responsible living places, he said. It also helps Aldar’s ambitious 2050 Net Zero aim.

He said the community will blend in perfectly with the larger Yas Island environment, providing its citizens with easy access to peaceful green areas, unparalleled educational facilities, and the best places to buy, relax, and have fun.

A representative of SEE Holding’s master planning and design firm, Diamond Developers, Marwa Nahlawi, general manager, stated: “Our model for future cities is designed to achieve the highest social, environmental, and economic sustainability standards.”

“By developing a live-work-thrive community that reduces emissions and enhances the quality of life, we are setting a new standard for sustainable urban development,” he said.

This award highlights our dedication to innovative design and environmentally friendly methods, which is exactly in line with SEE Holding’s goal of leading the way toward a future with net zero emissions. He continued, “We are committed to growing The Sustainable City’s global footprint and offering a replicable model for future cities that prioritize sustainability, adaptability, and community well-being. We are proud to uphold Estidama’s standards in line with the UAE’s ambitious net zero targets.”
