Yas Island is rapidly evolving as one of the world’s most connected entertainment destinations, with new transport developments and the highly anticipated Disney Abu Dhabi project taking shape.

This week, the Abu Dhabi Transport Company unveiled plans for Abu Dhabi Tram Line 4, a new route that will directly link Terminal A at Zayed International Airport to Yas Island home to some of the UAE’s most famous attractions and soon, Disney’s first-ever theme park in the Middle East.

The new tram line will significantly enhance Yas Island’s connectivity, allowing visitors to travel from the airport to their hotels or attractions within minutes.

Trams run every five minutes and an hourly capacity of 6,600 passengers, the system promises to reduce road traffic and make Yas Island even more accessible to international travelers.

Early transport maps have hinted that the upcoming Disney Abu Dhabi park could be located on the north side of Yas Island, although neither Disney nor Miral Yas Island’s master developer and the project’s official operator have confirmed the exact location.

In May, Miral and Disney announced their collaboration to bring a Disney theme park to Yas Island, marking a major milestone in the UAE’s global entertainment ambitions. This addition will join Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World, and SeaWorld Yas Island, cementing Yas Island’s reputation as one of the most diverse leisure destinations in the world.

The upcoming tram line aligns with Abu Dhabi’s broader strategy for sustainable urban mobility, connecting key destinations through efficient public transit. Once completed, the new rail system will give Yas Island a transport advantage comparable to Disneyland Paris, which links directly to Charles de Gaulle Airport via the TGV system.

Construction on Tram Line 4 is expected to begin next year, with completion projected by 2030 a timeline that aligns closely with rumored targets for Disney Abu Dhabi’s grand opening.

As Yas Island continues to attract record levels of investment and tourism, the synergy between Disney’s arrival and new transport infrastructure represents a defining chapter in the island’s evolution one that reinforces its status as Abu Dhabi’s entertainment capital and a global family destination.
